When drafting a message for an email campaign, a drip sequence, or any other kind of email message, a lot of time is spent on crafting the perfect message to capture your readers’ attention. Yet most of the time, the email you spent hours drafting and editing won’t even be opened.
The reason why your emails might end up in the Junk folder is simple: no matter what you write in your email body, it’s not going to make any difference if your subject line doesn’t entice the receiver to open the email. Therefore you also need to work hard on your subject line.
To make sure your email gets the attention it deserves, we collected a few ideas for subject lines that have been tried and tested. We’ll list a few different formulas that can be used for many purposes, so it’s easy to find the right subject line for what you need. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Other Tips For Writing Email Subject Lines
Now that we’ve explored 50 different email subject line examples that you can use in your email marketing strategy, we’ll give you some extra tips that can help you achieve better results from your emails' subject line.
Use Time-Sensitive Words
If you want to convey a sense of urgency for the action you want users to take, use time-sensitive words.
These words can be “important”, “urgent”, “last call”, and so on. Of course, using or not using these words will not make or break your email strategy; but it doesn’t hurt to try.
Test Various Lengths
How long should my email subject line be? Unfortunately, the answer is “It depends”. That’s why we recommend testing different lengths to hit the spot.
What works for the pharmaceutical industry will not work for B&B, and every industry has its own benchmarks. You should be aware that what might be a mediocre open rate on a business might be absolutely brilliant in a different industry.
If you are curious about the benchmarks for your industry, make sure you read our blog post about email marketing analytics…
Try Using Emojis 😇
A lot of successful email marketers use emojis in their subject lines, as is the case with this email from Stacked Marketer:
Stacked Marketer uses emojis in every single subject line for their daily newsletter. And you know what? It works.
An emoji can make your email stand out in the inbox, which increases the open rate. Even if you don’t get a lot of engagement, the fact that users open your email messages improves your email deliverability (more on deliverability in this guide).
There is a lot more to writing email subject lines than we could fit in a blog post. However, these are objective tips and examples that you can use for your email marketing.
We tried to keep this guide short and sweet – not everyone can study email subject lines for hours in order to get the information they need. Therefore, we recommend keeping this list in your favorites to get some ideas when you need them.
